Test Technician

🇬🇧 Milton Keynes, UK
Full Time
2+ years exp.

For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Test Technician to join the R&D Chassis Test Group based at our Milton Keynes technology campus. You will be part of the team in charge of ensuring our Formula One cars conform to design specification by successful completion of a wide range of verification tests as well as developing new concepts.

Your impact:

  • To prepare components for testing using the appropriate tooling and referencing the test info cards prepared by the R&D Test Designers.
  • Complete routine proof testing of safety critical components as well as acceptance tests on numerous parts and assemblies.
  • Operate modern servo-hydraulic test equipment using defined procedures and programmable control systems in order to prove components are fit for purpose.
  • To analyse sign-off test data and ensure results / calibrations are recorded and communicated effectively.
  • Maintenance & upkeep of rigs, test equipment and R&D facilities.

We are looking for a Test Technician, who:

  • Possess a can-do approach and proven experience in an F1, high level motorsport or OEM testing environment.
  • Is highly motivated and have a pro-active approach to problem solving in a technical environment.

  • Is qualified to HND level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline and have proven hands-on experience.
  • Some knowledge of current laboratory test operating systems such as MTS Multi-Purpose-Testware – this would be a significant advantage.

Not only is this a fantastic role, but it is also a fantastic team to work with. A good salary is just the start, there are many other benefits too such as our bonus scheme, private health care cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery, company contributed pension scheme, on site gym & fitness classes, free food, and a cycle to work scheme; but above all, the job satisfaction doesn’t get any better than the feeling of making a real contribution to the function of our grand prix cars.
