Our Game Plan:
The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships, our history is what will propel us into the future, confidently assuming a position of strength in the sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape.
Our home at UBS Arena at Belmont Park, which was built for hockey and made for music, cements our brand into the very foundation of New York. How to Make the Team:
The New York Islanders are seeking a highly motivated individual who has a tireless work ethic and wants to continuously learn while serving as the Strength & Conditioning Coach. The position is based on Long Island but will travel with the team throughout the season.
Show Us You Can:
- Can recognize signs of both over-training and under-training as well as athlete fatigue
- Understands the parallel of working with athletic trainers
- Can communicate and articulate the weight room activities to management and staff
- Can explain and communicate the value of a workout program and data platform
- Understand load management and heart rate zone training
- Ability to write a hockey-centric workout program for players in-season and off-season
Your Training & Talent:
- Degree in Applied Exercise Sciences – specializing in performance
- Certification and Continuing education credits from a nationally recognized organization (i.e NSCA)
- Has further studied the science of coaching
- Track record/work history with elite athletes
- Experience in pre and post-training rehab
- Experience in return to sport

- Evening, weekend, and holiday hours required
- Ability to relocate to Long Island and work full-time hours
