Our Game Plan

The Bridgeport Islanders are in search of an In-Game Host to join the Game Presentation Department and enhance the gameday atmosphere and in-game broadcasts. You will become the face of Bridgeport Islanders and a huge part of the gameday entertainment. This position requires an elevated level of confidence and public speaking skills. We are looking for highly energetic individuals with availability for the whole season.

How to make the team

Perform with high energy in front of fans on gamedays. Be innovative with ideas but also follow instructions of the Gameday Presentation Manager. This position requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is expected to execute each announcement clearly and with excitement.

  • Strong Public Speaking: The ability to confidently speak in front of a live audience, engage them, and convey information clearly is essential. A charismatic and energetic presentation style can help keep the crowd excited and entertained.
  • Energetic and Enthusiastic: An in-game host needs to have high energy levels and a vibrant personality to keep the crowd enthusiastic throughout the event.
  • Quick Thinking and Adaptability: Hockey games are fast-paced, and unexpected situations can arise. The host should be able to think on their feet, improvise, and adapt to changing circumstances while keeping the audience engaged.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Building rapport with fans, and other staff members is crucial. Friendly and approachable interpersonal skills can help create a positive atmosphere and enhance the overall fan experience.
  • Scripting and Hosting: The ability deliver engaging scripts for different segments of the game, including player interviews, fan interactions, promotions, and contests, is important.
  • Audience Engagement: Knowledge of audience engagement techniques, such as crowd prompts, interactive games, trivia, and contests, can help maintain a lively and fun atmosphere.
  • Professionalism: The in-game host represents the team and organization. Professionalism, including appropriate attire, conduct, and communication, is essential both on and off the stage.
  • Multitasking: Hockey games can have several activities happening simultaneously, such as on-ice promotions, video clips, and live interviews. The host should be able to manage multiple tasks seamlessly.
  • Tech Savviness: Familiarity with audiovisual equipment, microphones, cameras, and video displays is helpful for smooth coordination of various in-game elements.
  • Time Management: A good sense of timing is crucial to keep the event on schedule and ensure that each segment runs smoothly.
  • Team Player: Collaborating effectively with other members of the game-day staff, including production crew, camera operators, and on-ice personnel, is important for a cohesive and well-coordinated event.
  • Ability to Handle Pressure: Hockey games can be intense, and the in-game host should be comfortable working under pressure and handling unexpected situations with grace.
  • Creativity: Bringing innovative and creative ideas to the table for fan engagement activities and in-game entertainment can enhance the overall experience.
  • Flexibility: Game schedules and requirements may vary, including different start times, event durations, and special themes. The host should be flexible and adaptable to different scenarios.

  • Flexible schedule. Must be able to work home games, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Equipped to troubleshoot/problem solve and remain calm in challenging situations
  • Previous experience in public speaking

  • Enthusiasm always when performing

Where Youโ€™ll Go

Preseason: 4 rehearsals during September and October prior to the season.

During the season: Total Mortgage Arena on Gamedays and the day prior for meetings.
