The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. How to Make the Team

We are looking for a Social Media Coordinator to bring exceptional communication skills, creativity and a strong work ethic. This role will focus on creative thinking, storytelling, social analytics and requires the person to be able to work collaboratively and independently to assist the social media department. This position also requires a high degree of personal integrity, timeliness, workload prioritization and exceptional problem-solving skills.


Show Us You Can

  • Assist in creating and publishing engaging social media content
  • Assist in creating, ideating, editing and publishing of social first video content (Reels/TikTok)
  • Assist in putting together analytical reports
  • Utilize Slate asset library to build and execute real-time, in-game content that meets the needs, requirements, and brand standards of the Islanders. This may include but is not limited Community event coverage, pregame warmups.
  • Create graphics and videos using Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere or After Effects
  • Research and present new social media trends, pop culture references and opportunities to create buzzworthy content on social media
  • Assist the web content team with photo galleries
  • Assist with event and game coverage for Islanders social media channels
  • Think creatively and contribute to the overall department goals
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate


Your Training & Talent

  • Bachelor’s in marketing, communications, business, or related field
  • 1+ years’ experience in social media, sports or entertainment experience preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience using TikTok
  • High proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, other emerging platforms
  • 2+ years’ experience in the Adobe Suite including Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects
  • 2+ years’ experience in capturing photo and video content via DSLR and iPhone. Editing a plus
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends
  • 1+ years’ experience in social analytics
  • Game day duties required
  • Creative, energetic, and proactive approach to work
  • Awareness of and interest in the latest digital, social media and emerging trends shaping professional sports
  • Excellent writing skills


Where You’ll Go

  • The New York Islanders have offices in Floral Park, NY, as well as Manhattan. You will be in the office 2-3 days per week
  • Attend ALL home games and other events (events can fall on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays)
  • Travel required for games and other events
