Position Summary:

The New Orleans Pelicans Community Relations Manager will be responsible for leading and implementing community initiatives within specific programs, that result in providing an impact in the community, as well as enhancing the positive image of the New Orleans Pelicans’ brand. This personable, assertive, and eloquent individual will also have the goal of utilizing the Pelicans brand to engage community members across the state and Gulf South region.


What you will be doing:

  • Develop, manage, and execute programming related to Pelicans Community Relations pillars of engagement
  • Foster, nurture, and maintain strategic relationships with non-profit organizations, civic groups, and school administrations (among other related entities) in order to continually enhance the image of the organization in the community, and maintain status as a vested community partner
  • Execute programming with key internal and external stakeholders and serve as a Pelicans liaison to the grassroots community efforts across the Gulf South region
  • Support/Manage the development and growth of NBA community initiatives on the organization’s level
  • Generate community-focused ideas/programming to integrate into Pelicans Corporate Partner sponsorship agreements
  • Execute community-focused programming incorporated into Pelicans Corporate Partner sponsorship agreements according to contractual obligations
  • Work with internal departments such as Basketball Operations, Marketing, Game Operations, Communications, Broadcast and other departments to build awareness of programs and initiatives, to create shared value within business operations and to continually expand upon the Pelicans brand in the community
  • Perform other key duties as assigned

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Community-minded individual with 3+ years of proven experience working with community programs, non-profit, civic, and community groups
  • Prior experience managing and supervising a team is helpful
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and planning skills are a must
  • Confidence in building and delivering presentations, as well as engaging in public speaking opportunities
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and logically
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external constituents
  • Must be a motivated, self-starter capable of balancing multiple tasks
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by games and the NBA schedule
  • Must be able to lift 25+ pounds
  • Must be able to work outside
