Manchester United Women’s Academy has the vision of creating the most successful talent development programme within girl’s football by revolutionising the way the game is learnt and played. This role sits in the medical team and assists in delivering physiotherapy services to players.
The Role:
- To provide assessment, treatment, and functional rehabilitation of injured players
- To deliver specialised and individualised player rehabilitation programs, using an established philosophy and rehab method. This includes the implementation of gym-based and pitch-based football focused rehabilitation programs.
- To work as a member of the Medical and Performance team to further develop elite level rehabilitation and return to play processes.
- To coordinate the transition of all injured players within the squad back into training and matches, in collaboration with all members of the Medical and Performance interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information regarding injured players.
- Carry out annual and weekly medical and performance screening protocols, using gathered information to develop individualised prehab programmes aimed at preventing injuries and improving performance.
- Contribute to the day-to-day treatment, management, and maintenance of non-injured players, including making recommendations around training modifications when indicated and having a sound understanding of sport science principles to guide this process
- Communicate injury status and rehabilitation plans for players to coaching staff and parents
- To ensure that all medical records, physical screening and treatment information is kept in accordance with Manchester United Physiotherapy Service Standards and detailed medical records are maintained on the club’s medical record system.
- To comply with the MUFC Clinical Governance Policies
- To abide by the CSP Rules of Professional Conduct
- Develop and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders including Manchester United Women and The FA.
- Be available at training sessions and attend matches, home and away when required
- Collect all relevant data, information, and evidence of good practice to support funding conditions
- Uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy and those of partners, working in conjunction with both Manchester United FC’s Safeguarding team and partner leads.
- Complete Emergency Action Plans to always ensure a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with Manchester United Football Club’s policies.
- Organise and pack all medical equipment for both home and away matches
- To accompany players to medical consultations, possibly at short notice, ensuring the player receives optimal care and advice at all times (this may include longer travel periods when required).
- To assist with the on-field medical management of players.
- To be flexible and able to work evenings/weekends, travel to home and away games as required, attend pre and in-season tours including overseas travel as required.

Qualifications:
Essential
- Current Physiotherapy Degree
- Health and Care Professions Council Registration (HCPC)
- FA Level 5 Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF)
Desirable
- FA Learning Safeguarding Children certificate
- Any other relevant qualification/course
- A full UK driving license
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Health Care Professions Council
