Job Title: Associate Manager, Social Media

Reports To: Manager, Social Media

Position Summary: The Los Angeles Lakers are seeking a Associate Manager, Social Media to join the Integrated Marketing team. This role reports to the Manager, Social Media and is responsible for the day-to-day social media channel management across all Lakers owned channels. This role works closely with the full integrated marketing team in the planning, creation, and execution of content that can be leveraged across channels to engage fans and bring new consumers into the Lakers brand. This “public-facing” role must be able to thrive in high-pressure and fast-paced environments, ensuring flawless execution with every post. Ideal candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment, interpreting strategic guidance into fan engagement plans and briefing creative teams to produce high-impact content.


Team Overview: Integrated Marketing is the heartbeat of the marketing department, building seamless and connected pathways to fans to drive growth and engagement. Considering the full marketing mix with a spotlight on digital and social, the integrated marketing team is responsible for developing and executing detailed marketing plans, derived from Brand Strategy with support from Marketing Operations. As fan and channel experts, Integrated Marketing understands and implements the best ways to connect with fans based on campaign objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate flawless day-to-day social media publishing, active community management, and ensure channel best practices are being met.
  • Write copy tailored to each social platform’s specific audience, understanding and developing Lakers tone and voice across platforms.
  • Oversee the scheduling and implementation of all Corporate Partnership content. Includes proactive tracking of partnership content to ensure fulfillment of all contractual obligations across the NBA season.
  • Build social media plans for milestone moments across the season including uniform launches, key match ups, NBA All-Star, Playoffs and more, aligning with strategic guidance and leveraging creative concepts across social channels
  • Build social media assets and series for Corporate Partners, ensuring authentic integration without over commercializing
  • Support evolution of channel strategies, following consumer trends and the broader market landscape
  • Assist Manager, Social Media with daily tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert in vertical video content, including cell phone content capture and mobile video editing, optimized for specific platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain professionalism while interacting with high-profile talent.
  • Assist in execution of plans as part of holistic integrated marketing campaigns (e.g. All-Star, Playoffs, City Edition).
  • Assist in maintaining a content calendar, covering all social channels, including satellite accounts.
  • Maintain excellence in platform understanding, staying current and educating others on channel updates and best practices.
  • Attend/work Lakers games, in person and remote.
  • Run point on social for select game days, communicating with Creative and Content team to execute game coverage in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keep pulse of Lakers’ fan base to activate around audience’s wants and needs.
  • Have educated recommendations on how content comes to life on social media.
  • Must demonstrate an active use and understanding of digital and social media
  • Must illustrate both extensive creativity and strong writing skills for fast-moving social media content


Education: A bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Previous Experience:

4+ years in the digital or social-specific field with a track record of success

Experience working in sports or live events a plus

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a min of 25lbs. and walk significant distances in arena on game days

Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), downtown Los Angeles (Cyrpto.com Arena for Laker home games), and other occasional off-site events

Travel: Less than 5% of the time

Hours: Regular office hours (9am- 5:30pm M-F), plus overtime is mandatory; must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays

The pay range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 . Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
