JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Security & Safety is a pivotal leadership role responsible for orchestrating comprehensive security and safety initiatives for the Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Stadium. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Event Operations & Security, the Senior Director will oversee all aspects of security planning, implementation, and management, as well as safety protocols, ensuring the protection of personnel, assets, and events. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to drive excellence in security operations. With a focus on integrating advanced technologies and fostering partnerships with internal stakeholders and external agencies, the Senior Director plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the organization.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Safety Management Planning:
β€’ Develop, implement, maintain, and annually update comprehensive life safety management plans, incident, and evacuation procedures for the Club, Arrowhead Stadium, and Arrowhead Events.
β€’ Ensure all staff, including full-time, part-time, and event day personnel, undergo regular training drills to proficiently execute emergency protocols.
2. Facility Security Operations Management:
β€’ Direct and oversee the 24/7 facility security operations for Arrowhead Stadium and The University of Kansas Hospital Training Complex, ensuring robust protection of assets and personnel.
β€’ Implement advanced security protocols and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of security operations.
3. Event Security Planning and Oversight:
β€’ Take proactive leadership in security planning, implementation, and oversight for all events, including Chiefs home games, corporate and social events, and major stadium gatherings.
β€’ Conduct thorough risk assessments prior to events and deploy appropriate security measures to mitigate potential threats.
4. Collaboration with Security Leadership:
β€’ Engage in strategic collaboration with the Vice President of Event Operations & Security and Sr. Director of Team Security to establish and execute a cohesive security vision and strategy for the Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Stadium.
β€’ Work closely with security leadership to develop and implement detailed safety and security plans, as well as comprehensive event security staffing templates, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
5. Liaison with NFL League Offices:
β€’ Serve as the primary liaison between the KC Chiefs and the NFL League offices, providing comprehensive oversight and coordination of security measures and protocols.
β€’ Actively engage with league representatives to stay abreast of evolving security standards and implement best practices to maintain a safe and secure stadium environment.
6. Security Protection and Access Control:
β€’ Develop and execute comprehensive security plans for building envelope & primary/secondary perimeters, integrating state-of-the-art security technologies & personnel to deter and detect breaches.

7. Incident and Event Reporting Management:
β€’ Oversee the robust management of the computerized incident and event reporting system (24/7), ensuring accurate and timely documentation of security incidents.
β€’ Establish streamlined processes for gathering and analyzing data from Security staff, contract security, and law enforcement to inform proactive security measures.
8. Coordination with Law Enforcement:
β€’ Collaborate closely with local law enforcement agencies to coordinate and align security efforts for events hosted at Arrowhead Stadium, ensuring seamless integration of resources and response protocols.
β€’ Facilitate regular training sessions and joint exercises with law enforcement partners to enhance coordination and response capabilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


1. Must be able to work extended hours; consistently active and walking.
2. Must be able to walk long distances.
3. Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing 20+ lbs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):


1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Security Management, Risk Management) required; Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in security and safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
3. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP), or equivalent certification preferred.
4. Strong understanding of security and safety principles, practices, and regulations.
5. Proven experience in developing and implementing security and safety policies and procedures.
6. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
8. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
