JOB SUMMARY: The Kansas City Chiefs and 65 Toss Power Trap Productions (65TPT) are looking for a talented, passionate, creative and versatile part-time Lifestyle and Community Contributor. This position will work with the Media & Marketing Department to help tell the story of the Chiefs’ community outreach efforts from a multimedia perspective through video, spoken and written content. This individual will be responsible for attending and covering organizational community outreach events on an assignment basis for usage on Chiefs’ social and digital platforms. Coverage of these events includes, but is not limited to, video recaps and written articles. Ideally, this individual will be expected to interview stakeholders, perform on-camera standups, shoot video and post-produce video and written content surrounding assigned events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend Kansas City Chiefs community outreach events on an assignment basis. These events include player, Kansas City Ambassador and Chiefs Cheerleader visits to schools, hospitals, military bases and other locations. Events can take place at any time during the week.
- Interview stakeholders for video and written content.
- Script and recite on-camera “standups” as needed for video recap content. This role will have an opportunity to bring a face and a personality to the Chiefs’ community outreach content.
- Edit video community outreach event content that will live across a multitude of Kansas City Chiefs social and digital platforms.
- If additional videographers are not present, this role will be expected to effectively use professional video and audio equipment at a variety of locations “in the field.”
- Capture vertical, cell phone video content for usage on Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories and TikTok in addition to video content shot on a professional camera.
- Ideate and post social content to Chiefs’ community channels in the moment as part of event coverage.
- Positively represent the Kansas City Chiefs as a member of the organization out in the community. This includes interactions both on and off camera.
- Produce written content for Chiefs.com covering community outreach efforts and events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Reporter and Vice President of Content and Production.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Expertise editing video content, specifically using Adobe Creative Suite, is paramount. Coverage of events is timely, so this role is expected to efficiently and quickly turn around quality video content.
- An understanding of how to conduct a professional interview, whether it be on or off-camera.
- Ability to post and create relevant social media content and copy in the moment when covering events.
- Experience using professional video and audio equipment in the field. Understanding of Amira cameras is a plus.
- Experience news writing utilizing AP Style is a plus.
- Light office duties and activities.
- Will periodically be required to lift and carry production equipment totaling 50-75 lbs.
- Organization skills and ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple projects.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) candidates desired.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or equivalent degree.
- 1-3 years video post-production experience is a must. Above and beyond: camera operation, editing, writing, set lighting, and design desired.
- Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere).
- Demonstrates strong creative skills that can be applied to TV and digital production ecosystems.
- Must be a team player, willing and able to learn new concepts and processes, and willing to travel for shoots when necessary.
- Must be able to work autonomously and with trust and common sense.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
