In this role, you will be inputting stats using the NBA Global Stats System (NGSS) during Motor City Cruise (G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons) home games, located at the Wayne State Field House (Detroit, MI). We will have a caller and an official scorer for every game. However, if you know multiple tasks, you may be assigned to calling or serving as an official score keeper. This job/role is for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA Season and is a seasonal position. Most games will start at 7:00pm but will include a few games at 11:30am and 3:00pm. You will report an hour before the game on a day you are assigned to work, to be sure everything is set up and ready for the event.

What you’ll be doing
Recording statistics for Motor City Cruise home games using the NBA Global Stats System (NGSS).

  • Working in unison with a four-person crew to call and input game actions on touch screen computers.
  • Validate stats and communicate with the official scorer at the end of every game to ensure that every play/stat is correct and accurate.
  • Before the season starts, you will be attending a mandatory meeting that will involve training for the upcoming season. What we are looking for:
  • Individuals who are committed to this role and are eager to learn more during the season.
  • A team-player with great communication skills and a positive attitude always.
  • At least a little bit of experience like this role – not required, but ideal


Preferred qualifications

  • Individuals need to both understand basketball and be technically savvy
  • Advanced understanding of the game of basketball and its statistics
  • Must familiarize self with NBA Statisticians Manual
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and occasional holidays as the NBA schedule dictates
  • Must pass a background check conducted by the NBA
