JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Director of Performance and Medical
LOCATION: Inova Performance Complex - Leesburg, VA
DEPARTMENT: Soccer Operations
REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Director of Performance and Medical for the Soccer Operations department with D.C. United. This person will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of medical, physical performance, nutrition, psychology, and sports science across the club, to ensure consistent, excellent service levels and competitive advantage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and deliver processes, protocols, and initiatives which support elite levels of physical capability, low levels of injury, and support for cultural development as well as high levels of mental resilience.
  • Advise on delivery of excellent levels of team services in all areas related to medical services.
  • Develop performance services to embrace and develop best practices, protocol and consistency of delivery.
  • Deliver interdisciplinary projects that require the integration of data from the fieldsof analytics, medicine, and sports science.
  • Oversee the development and management of medical and high-performance facilities, if applicable.
  • Lead the communication process between other departments (e.g., coaching, performance and front office departments).
  • Lead initiatives to continually develop the high-performance environment (e.g., facilities, work areas, equipment as appropriate).
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years experience in elite performance environments
  • Masters degree or higher in exercise science, sports medicine, or related field
  • Professional certification from a recognized body
  • Experience managing travel schedules across different time zones and climates
  • Develop and manage inter-departmental relationships across soccer operations internally
  • Develop and manage external relationships (vendors or other) as required
  • Experience managing and demonstrated excellence in the graduated return to performance
  • Available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends & holidays
  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Spanish,
  • Portuguese, or French language skills a plus)

Base pay is one part of the total compensation package and is determined within a range. The good faith anticipated base pay range for this role is shown below, and actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experiences, location, and other business and organizational needs.

Anticipated pay: $125,000+
