POSITION SUMMARY (PURPOSE OF POSITION):

The Colorado Rockies Baseball Club is seeking a highly qualified Manager of Performance Nutrition Programs to support the nutritional needs of our major and minor league baseball programs. This critical role will be responsible for comprehensive nutritional management across our entire organization, coordinating needs with our third-party food and nutrition vendor, and working closely with our sports science team to optimize athlete performance and health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (REQUIRED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

Major League Food:

  • Coordinate and manage nutritional logistics for the Major League team during all road trips through the Championship Season.
  • Develop and execute performance-optimized meal plans for players year-round.

Vendor Management:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for third-party vendor, Flik Athletics.
  • Coordinate with the third-party vendor for food services at major league facilities in Denver and Scottsdale.
  • Ensure vendor alignment with the Rockies' nutritional philosophy and budget oversight.
  • Manage nutritional service contracts, including budget oversight, regular communications with staff, etc.

Player Nutrition Support:

  • Ensure high-quality, performance-optimized meal planning and food preparation for players year-round.
  • Create standardized nutrition guidelines and resources tailored to players at different developmental stages.
  • Develop strategic nutrition protocols for performance enhancement, recovery, and individualized player goals.
  • Provide personalized nutrition counseling and planning for individual players.
  • Conduct individual and group nutritional education sessions.
  • Work with athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and medical staff to build collaborative performance nutrition programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop holistic performance strategies.
  • Contribute to comprehensive athlete development and performance optimization efforts.

Minor League Food:

  • Minor League nutrition coordination for all affiliates during the Championship Season, including the development and implementation of comprehensive nutrition programs for all minor league affiliates.
  • Monitor and support nutritional needs across the entire minor league system.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Exercise Science, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification.
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in professional sports nutrition, preferably in baseball or high-performance athletic environments.
  • Proven track record of developing nutrition programs for elite athletes.
  • Strong understanding of sports nutrition science, metabolism, and performance nutrition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Sports Nutrition or related field.
  • Experience working with professional baseball organizations.
  • Advanced nutrition certifications.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Extensive travel during baseball season, including spring training and visits to minor league affiliates.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours as the baseball schedule requires.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel extensively during the baseball season, including spring training and visits to minor league affiliates. This includes travel by car, plane, and other means. Travel may involve short notice and long hours. Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced athletic environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, medical staff, and other team members, both verbally and in writing. It may involve delivering presentations or educational sessions to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work with athletes with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, particularly during team events, meal services, and group educational sessions. Occasional walking through facilities, stadiums, and complex grounds may be required.
  • Ability to lift and carry items related to nutrition services, including boxes of food, meal supplies, and equipment, up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasional repetitive tasks include setting up meal service areas, organizing nutrition materials, and preparing educational resources.
  • Ability to use hands for tasks such as preparing nutrition plans, organizing materials, and utilizing computer systems for meal planning and communication.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000 annually. This is a regular status, full-time position.
  • As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
