About the Role

The HR Business Partner will play a key role in supporting all areas of Human Resources for the Chicago Bears. Overall, the HR department is dedicated to supporting the achievement of the Club’s business goals and upholding the standard of being a first-class organization. This role will provide quality support through various stages of the employee journey – including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits, policies, professional development, and more. In partnership with executive leadership and the entire Humans Resources team, the HR Business Partner will help review, develop, and implement programs and services that enrich our culture.

The is a salaried position that is primarily located at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL with travel to our downtown Chicago office.

Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Support all aspects of recruiting with appropriate departments including but not limited to: job description creation, posting, sourcing, resume review, coordinating on-demand interviews, screening, and rejections.
  • Support key sourcing for all roles including but not limited to: distributing the job posting, passive searching, and research of unique sourcing solutions, with a focus on underrepresented groups.
  • Support the administration and execution of on-demand interviewing platform for all roles.
  • Support proper documentation and retention of all job postings, job descriptions, interview notes, etc.
  • Support employer branding and outreach via LinkedIn content, college relationships, career fairs and more.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Conduct the pre-employment and rehire process as needed; this includes the collection of required documents, processing background checks and updating ADP.
  • Complete background checks and necessary paperwork for all independent contractors.
  • Provide support to New Hire Orientation as needed.
  • Support the continued build out of new hire onboarding & orientation programs (i.e. manager check list, 30-60-90 check-ins), tracks participation, make recommendations for continuous improvement, and coordinate as needed.
  • Conduct in person exit interviews as necessary.
  • Process separation paperwork and collect Club property as needed.

Benefits

  • Maintain solid understanding of various employee benefit programs, such as life insurance, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, pension, FLMA, and 401k. Answer employee’s questions and resolve related problems.
  • Process new employee enrollments and status changes. Document and save appropriate communication and files in timely manner and in compliance with Club policies.
  • Review and approve monthly benefit plan billing as necessary.

Employee Relations

  • Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts and grievances among employees.
  • Foster a positive working environment by promoting open communication and addressing employee concerns.
  • Properly document and track all employee relations issues. Work closely with HR team on proactive ways to improve working relationships among staff.

Policies & Compliance

  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation HR policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements and Club objectives. Ensure consistent application and adherence to HR policies across all departments.

Professional Development

  • Support development and execution of “Bears University” efforts with a focus on impactful and relevant programming.
  • Support execution of Management Development Program including but not limited to: formal trainings, mentorship, lunch & learns, and additional programming as necessary
  • Manage relationship and staff communication and reporting for LinkedIn Learning.
  • Support departmental training & conference request process. Ideate new opportunities for individual staff or departments to develop key skills.
  • Help coordinate internal trainings that will advance a culture of high performance, agility, inclusivity, and diversity across the club by working closely with DEI and outside partners
  • Support development and implementation of new training initiatives and research new partners to support efforts.

General

  • Act as a champion for DEI initiatives within the organization, promoting awareness and engagement among employees.
  • Support the execution of initiatives to promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging within the organization.
  • Support delivery of DEI training programs and workshops for employees at all levels.
  • Work closely with HR team to understand employee survey data and develop and execute changes as necessary.
  • Aid in the development of HR standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Observe, in every respect, the confidential nature of the Human Resources department.
  • Make posts to general and HR pages of The Playbook.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of information contained in the HRIS (ADP) system.
  • Act as a team player and respond with sense of urgency and amazing customer service work ethic.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of basic existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years professional full-time HR generalist related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all employment laws & regulations, labor relations and recruitment required.
  • Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge and practical application of additional HR disciplines including employee relations, management & leadership development, performance management, compensation philosophies, and knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety preferred.
  • Onboarding experience preferred.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and able to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
