This full-time position is responsible for support of the Community Outreach department’s plan that strives to have a positive impact both in the community and at Carolina Hurricanes home games. Through a wide range of initiatives, promotions and fan development events this role promotes the Hurricanes brand and hockey to a broad audience. All responsibilities aim to support the organization’s key objectives which are to increase revenue, support season ticket sales, increase brand recognition and position the team in a favorable light.
- Primary responsibility will be to assist the Carolina Hurricanes in running programs related to the Industry Growth Fund.
- Oversee the Industry Growth Funds Carolina Hurricanes Passport Program
- Create and build the overall Passport programs look and mission
- Run the day-to-day programming and tracking connected to the Passport Program, including implementing and getting school support.
- Plan and manage school and community partnerships tied to the Passport Program
- Oversee all internal and external events tied to the Passport Program
- Coordinate all marketing efforts attached to the Passport Program
- Create yearly recaps of the IGF program for the team and NHL.
- Work with local school systems on implementing and running a wide range of programming focused on health, education, and Brand connection.
- Plan, manage and run events/promotions in the community that will continue to promote or extend the Carolina Hurricanes brand.
- Help support annual major and minor events in the community over the year, including hockey camps, hockey clinics, in-school programming, Ball & Street initiatives, and Foundation events.
- Assist department with prep and execution of in-game promotions youth activities. Hockey showcase and Youth Starter of the Game.
- Partner with the Community events Manger to assistant and execute all aspects of the south plaza parties before games.
- Support and assist Hurricanes Foundation Donation Exchange program
Experience
- Relative experience in community relations, community-based programs, nonprofit work, or event management; experience in the sports & entertainment industry strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work games and events that require working nights, weekends and some holidays
- Must have experience organizing and running events
- Ability to represent the Carolina Hurricanes Community Outreach in a positive light
- Ability to help set up and maneuver displays weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to lead.
- Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and goals while managing the budget of the IGF program.
- Experience in both CR and Foundation initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in all computer programs and database use.
- Valid NC Driver’s license with acceptable driving record and pass criminal background check.
