As a key part of our front-of-the-house team, The Assistant Manager will act as the service expert, ensuring every guest expectation is met and every experience is a positive one. Interact with guests and promote the brand.
Responsibilities
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant and other services as directed by management.
Managerial duties to include but not limited to the following;
- Scheduling of FOH staff, assist in monitoring and changing as needed depending on events/catering
- Ensure all paperwork is completed when asked and assist in correspondence with HR
- Ensure all paperwork, manuals, and handbooks are ready for incoming staff
- Update Manual/menus as needed
- Assist with training guides/plan for new employees
- Outline topics for continuing education/ running side works for team
- Evaluate new/current employees and ensure each is scheduled according to abilities
- Follow opening/closing protocol as outlined by General Manager
- Follow daily schedule of duties to ensure al needs of operation are met as outlined by General Manager
- Regulate the cash flow and ensure all petty cash drawers are accurate.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
- Assist Executive Chef in BOH operations including Catering, Expo/Prep and Orders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Supportive Duties and responsibilities
- Protect business and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
- Welcome and greet guests with a smile. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know youβre there to personally take care of them.
- Learn and understand the menu, floor chart, restaurant history, policies, and owners.
- Inform guests/servers/hosts of specials and any menu changes.
- Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
- Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
- Take food and beverage orders from our guests, enter orders in our POS system if needed
- Deliver food and beverage orders from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely, sanitary and safe manner.
- Oversee side work at the start, during and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
- Maintain clean service area at all time.
- Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
- Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable).
- Be ready and willing to assist staff as situations arise.
- Be ready and willing to assist with clearing and resetting tables.
- Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous serving experience preferred
- Able to read, write and understand English.
- Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a POS system.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to be an effective multi-tasker by successfully handling multiple guests and tasks in a timely manner.
- Show tremendous knowledge of proper sanitation practices as well as strong knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Be able to work varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
- Must pass a criminal background check
This position does represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances. As an Assistant Manager you will be expected to work with guests and visitors to ensure satisfaction. A Manager will have to take initiative and get creative in resolving guest challenges.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, possibly extended distances as well as kneel and stoop.
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs.
- Occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs.
