The Role of Commercial Designer

Brentford FC is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly enlarged Creative Services team at an ambitious Premier League club. The Club is seeking a Commercial Designer to complement the skills within the business and increase the quality of our output of matchdays.

The successful candidate will be part of a 4-person Creative Services team and will have a vital role in setting the brand identity for Brentford FC as we continue to grow on and off the field.

The role will suit someone with experience of creating imagery for print, digital and social media, setting a brand identity and working to very short deadlines. The candidate will have technical knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

A candidate with experience of working within sport, particularly football, will be at an advantage.

Main Accountabilities

  • Lead in production of all Partnership assets, including mock-ups, sales presentation layouts, evolution of presentations, and any other forms of partnerships creative
  • To design commercial assets across a broad range of channel applications keeping true to the brand and the campaign and promotions concepts including online banners, leaflets, screen adverts, and animated GIFs
  • Become an expert and Single-point-of-contact in usage of Partnership presentation creation tool, Bylder, and ensure templates required as created and kept up-to-date.
  • To produce editorial and commercial assets for both online and off-line materials
  • To ensure all executions are consistent & conform to brand guidelines

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics:

  • Excellence in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign)
  • Experience in supporting a sales team/commercial department
  • The ability to work as part of a large and small team but also alone on projects when needed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Competent in IT with knowledge in Word, Excel and Outlook as a minimum
  • Full knowledge and use of a wide range of social media and how graphics can be used to engage and grow an audience
  • Understanding of brands and the partnership sales process
  • Understanding of themes and the news agenda in sport, particularly football


Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics:

  • Full driving licence with own car
  • Apple Mac User
  • Demonstrable skills in after-effects
  • Knowledge and experience of working with motion graphics
  • Preparedness for working long and unsociable hours, particularly weekends, Christmas and other Bank Holidays
