Director of Facility Operations

This is a is full-time, exempt position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Paid medical; Dental, Vision; 401k, Pension; most meals included.

General Description: The Director of Facility Operations will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and facility operations, staff, vendors, budget, and capital projects for the Under Armour Performance Center. The Director will be the main point of contact for all of the building operations/maintenance and serve to ensure the facility is up and running 24/7. This role will partner with security to ensure safety and accessibility as well as food & catering, fields & grounds and the operations services team to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Will be “on call” in case of emergency services needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct, plan, coordinate, review and actively participate in the work plan related to building operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects, and programs, monitor workflow, review, and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures including but not limited to daily work orders, troubleshooting and repair or arranging for repairs of the buildings operating systems.
  • Daily interior & exterior inspections of the facility & surrounding property to ensure proper operation and cleanliness of the building.
  • During after-hours shifts, responds to all emergencies and takes appropriate action to identify problems and take corrective action with long term implications in mind. Calls on duty mechanics for assistance.
  • Drafts and implements routine maintenance schedules and standards; provides proactive solutions to keep the facility operating at peak performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to the building mechanical, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and plumbing, life safety, fire protection and security systems.
  • Oversee housekeeping staff to ensure facility is cleaned & maintained daily.
  • Assist with facility updates/renovations.
  • Responsible for maintaining interior and exterior appearance of facility.
  • Maintain keying system and distribution.
  • Assist with external events held at the practice facility.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable codes, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Track and manage warranty-related issues related to new systems and equipment installed in the building.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
  • Develop short-term and long-term Capital Projects Plan for the facility to include refurbishment/replacement of major equipment as required based on end-of-life cycles.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with team members to provide recognition and feedback.
  • Develops and cultivates productive relationships with current and new local vendors and contractors. Evaluate bid proposals, scope of work, and determine the best course of action taking into consideration longer term outlook and budget.
  • Inspects and approves work performed by outside contractors/vendors providing feedback as necessary.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Must be certified by the state of Maryland in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, or HVAC.
  • Proven experience in facilities management, including budget management and capital project oversight.
  • Previous experience in building maintenance and repair, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and/or carpentry a must.
  • Must have ability to work on multiple projects, respond to multiple requests and complete tasks/repairs in a timely manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.

Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:

  • Ability to manage and build effective relationships with persons at all levels and with service contract providers.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, communication skills, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Passion for sports, customer focus, attention to detail, and operational excellence are a must.
  • A can-do attitude with a keen ability to get things done, see projects through and deliver on all levels.

*This position also requires flexibility and potential availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.
