JOB OVERVIEW:

The academy head coaching position is a leading role to coordinate a multidisciplinary team of professionals with the objective to develop youth elite players. Management skills and communication with team, players, parents and staff will be crucial to maximize the potential of the talent.

This position requires a high level of planning, programing, organizing and delivering training sessions, as well as detailed preparation of the competition. The coach will require to read, interpret and apply the style and principles of play following the organization’s curriculum.

Self-management, leadership and a positive attitude to build strong relationships with players and staff will be essential to complete the tasks assigned for this role.

INDIVIDUAL WORK:

  • Planning and programming a season following the guidelines of the curriculum, style of play and principles of play. Designing micro-cycles based on the competition and anticipating the collective and individual needs of the players.
  • Creating and delivering training sessions to cover specific phases of the game. Identify technical, tactical, physical and psychological areas of improvement in the team to create action plans. Elaborating collective and individual evaluations and reports monitoring individual performances and minutes played.
  • Communicate with players on and off the field, as well as their families anticipating potential conflicts.

TEAM-WORK:

  • To lead, manage and inspire players from different age groups and backgrounds to perform in training and competition. Work in collaboration with the director of methodology to deliver the Atlanta United FC curriculum. Coordinate a multidisciplinary group of professionals maximizing the resources of the club.
  • Assist other teams in the academy during specific training sessions, games and tournaments. Formulate opinions and create evaluations based on facts and share these evaluations with the scouting team. Work closely with the performance department, video analysis and mental performance coach to elaborate comprehensive training sessions and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • USSF A license or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of experience in an academy of a professional soccer club.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office and Apple Software.
  • Experience using key industry software (Wyscout, Hudl and Sportscode).
  • Bachelor’s degree in sport sciences (desirable).
  • Spanish and other languages is a plus.
