COMPANY BACKGROUND
The Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.
The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This role provides HR expertise and support to a business organization and its human resources department. HRBPs work with teams, managers, and stakeholders to help build organizational capability, culture, and implement effective people strategies. This role will partner with the VP, Human Resources
on developing and implementing efficient HR processes and procedures, as well as supporting and training
leaders across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning:
• Develop and implement strategies to help the business achieve its goals.
• Develops, manages, and improves Health & Safety processes and policies across the organization.
• Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
• Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
• Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
• Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
Talent Management
• Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
• Works closely with management and the VP, HR, and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Manages the performance review process and provides ongoing guidance to employees and
• managers as needed.
• Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
• Collaborate with our employee resource groups to promote initiatives and planning.
• Assist with fostering a diversified and inclusive club that recruits, retains and attracts the best talent.
• Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
• Assists international employees with the onboarding processes and related HR matters.
Training and Development:
• Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
• Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
• The point of contact for league mandated player safeguarding requirements.
Compliance:
• Oversees the benefits administration, retirement, leave of absence and workers’ compensation plans.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in HR or other business-related field, and experience with Human Resources management.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience resolving complex employee matters.
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• PHR or SPHR Certified – Preferred
