As the Community Relations Coordinator, you will assist in impacting the community through a commitment to education and mentoring, health and fitness, military recognition, and basic needs as well as NBA sponsored program and player charities. In addition, you will work directly with the Detroit Pistons Foundation on fundraising initiatives and reporting, as well as community programming for Foundation grantees.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and implementing community events including event management and budgeting
  • Planning and execution of Detroit Pistons G League affiliate, Motor City Cruise, CSR activations
  • Activating NBA SR platforms (Season of Giving, Hoops for Troops, etc.)
  • Lead all aspects of organizations' community transportation program including scheduling and budgeting
  • Assist with organizations social change voting initiatives
  • Collaborating with Corporate Partnerships department on sponsored community events, platforms, and campaigns
  • Assist as departmental liaison with Digital Media to lead all CSR social media content and channels
  • Assist in coordinating departmental micro site and subsequent web pages, content and format
  • Assist with fundraising efforts and community programs on behalf of the Detroit Pistons Foundation, including but not limited to online auction fundraising, following bidding trends and acquiring items to improve fundraising potential
  • Assisting in managing interns and game day staff
  • Own the yearly internal player autograph session
  • Collaborate with creative team to design and create department collateral
  • Aide Director with all other projects, as assigned

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as, Sport Management, Marketing, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience in Community Relations and/or Corporate Social Responsibility, Foundation or nonprofit role, Event Planning, Marketing
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Experience in Ability to multi-task and work in a faced-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Previous work in the field of athletics or entertainment a plus
