JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Dallas Stars Tournament Series. This position will support the attraction and execution of large hockey-related events to be hosted in the Comerica Arena and Children’s Health StarCenter facilities as well as other partnered facilities in the Southwest region. This person is responsible for the financial success of each event by driving revenue and managing expenses. This position is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for budget management, monthly reporting, and accounts receivable collections
- Manage all department reporting and financials including weekly reports to the Director, StarCenter Business Operations and the Vice President, Community Ice Rinks
- Assist in the creation of the annual Tournament Series schedule (dates, times, locations, etc.) by working with Tournaments staff and facility general managers to create the game schedule for each individual tournament or event
- Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, digital ads, and Tournaments webpage while working directly with marketing team
- Oversee the pricing, ordering, receiving, and distribution of swag for all tournaments
- Proactively market the Dallas Stars Tournament Series to local and out-of-town coaches, facility managers, association presidents, and hockey directors
- Manage all tournament logistics, including tournament party(ies) and other events
- Manage all team registrations and accounts receivable through ActiveNet registration system
- Manage all exterior communication with registered team managers and/or coordinators via all marketing channels
- Manage all interior communication with facility General Managers, Assistant General Managers, Hockey Programs Managers, Office Managers, and Front Desk Managers as it relates to the on-site operation of the Tournament Series in their respective buildings
- Organize and attend all department staff meetings
- Create flexible staff schedules to accommodate hours of coverage during planning and execution of events
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sponsorship activation opportunities by analyzing the current base of Comerica Center and Children’s Health StarCenter Corporate Partners, identify, and pitch new activation opportunities, and manage all activation logistics so the Corporate Partnerships Department can be hands-off
- Coordinate all vendor requests while exploring and creating new vendor relationships
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree is required
- Extensive knowledge of ice hockey or figure skating, as an athlete or coach, is preferred
- Proven history of training and developing successful programs
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude with an ability to work independently and as a team player
- Willingness to learn new programs and try new initiatives
- Excellent attention to detail and proven organizational and time-management skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with customers
- Must be able to effectively manage up and down the organizational chart
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events as they are integral to the success of the Facility
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle large objects, tools, carts, and drive machinery. Reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, and hear for up to 8-14 hours a day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be required to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the function, and may be also exposed to adverse conditions including inclement weather, noise, fumes etc.
