Assistant Coach, Jets Hockey Development

The Assistant Coach, Jets Hockey Development is responsible for assisting with the development, planning, execution, and economic performance of designated developmental and elite hockey programs for the Jets Hockey Development (JHD) program at hockey for all centre. This individual will work closely with all other programming team members including Manager, Instructional Programming and Manager, Business Development when developing and executing programming opportunities.

What to be excited for in this role:

  • Recruit, organize, and lead an on-ice programming team for JHD.

  • Lead Satellite Portion of programming.

  • Develop, administer, and deliver program content for JHD. Jets Hockey Development includes the following:

  • JHD initiation programs: Learn to Skate, Learn to Play and Power Skating

  • All clinics and coaching sessions

  • Summer Programs

  • Develop Future Programs

  • Spring Hockey Program

  • Lead AAA skills programs

  • Expand to other area associations

  • Lead Boardroom Sessions as required

  • Bring new ideas forward to the team with areas not currently covered in the program.

  • Work to fill registrations through emails, calls, and meeting players and/or parents in person.

  • Watch minor hockey games to build relationships with players and parents.

  • Other duties as required/assigned.

What we need from you:

  • 5 – 10 years of High-Performance training experience, with a focus on hockey specific training and instruction.

  • Notable experience as an athlete, coach and/or trainer.

  • Good understanding of fitness and nutritional science.

  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills, with a personal hands-on approach.

  • Superior leadership skills.

  • The capacity to prioritize competing demands in a diverse and evolving environment, independently managing deadlines and corresponding workload.

  • Comfortable working with very firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, athletes, parents, staff, and patrons.

  • The ability to motivate, organize and manage staff at all levels effectively both directly and in support of other managers.

  • Must be flexible with working evenings, weekends, and holidays on an as needed basis.

  • hockey for all centre is not located on a public transportation route; a driver’s license and/or reliable transportation is required.
