
Senior Design Engineer - Mechanical

The position:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our F1 Mechanical Design group, working on a wide variety of projects.
Collaborating with the Group Principal / Head of Mechanical Design, you will be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to prototype production working closely with other Engineering departments.
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Concept design through to detailing of mechanical, hydraulic and composite components and assemblies on a wide variety of systems across the car.
Carry out background stress and sizing calculations and produce supporting documentation.
Conduct design reviews independently or with the Principal Engineer / Head of Department.
Demonstrate significant experience to be drawn on by others and be a point of contact for engineering support.
Mentor less experienced engineers within the team.
Complete end-to-end ownership for projects incorporating manufacture, build, testing and racing, including fault analysis and resolution requiring close collaboration with the wider team.
Support checking of detailed drawings, including design review against specification and previous designs and competitor analysis.
Drive continuous improvement and promote autonomous creativity.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has:
An in-depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles and previous experience within a similar role within motorsport.
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace or a related field.
The ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritise work to varying deadlines.
Strong CAD skills, ideally with experience of Siemens NX, however training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.
Experience with simulation modelling and basic stress calculations.
Data analysis experience would also be beneficial.
