
Network Engineer

About the role:
This Network Engineer position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the network infrastructure across all the Williams Racing estate working alongside the network lead engineer. You will troubleshoot, administer and implement access points, switches, routers and firewalls where necessary and assist fellow members of the Digital Performance Technologies (DPT) team to ensure that network or security related problems that are affecting users, are triaged.

We’re looking for someone who has a keen eye for detail and is a team player as this position requires a lot of collaboration with various other members of the DPT team and stakeholders across the business.
Your aim is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for your users.
As a Network Engineer, you will:
Maximising network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with the network lead on network optimisation.
Assist in troubleshooting network fault investigations in LAN and the WAN environment across the Williams Racing estate.
Maintaining ownership of assigned requests through to resolution, escalating either internally or externally as appropriate.
Supporting and administering firewalls in line with the IT security policy.
Liaise with support desk, infrastructure team, project management on a regular basis.
Work closely with 3rd party suppliers such as network providers, network security providers, and service partners.
Report network operational status by gathering and prioritising information and managing projects.
Our Network Engineer will have:
Experience of administering and troubleshooting Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches and associated technologies such as Spanning-Tree, VLANS, etc.
Exposure to Wireless Technologies Including but not limited to Cisco Meraki.
Experience of troubleshooting and supporting network environments in fast paced businesses.
Our ideal Network Engineer would also have:
Exposure to firewalls and VPN configuration including but not limited to Palo Alto.
Experience of packet and flow level analysis.
Professional certification desired such as the CCNA.
Understanding of the following would be advantageous:
OSI model and where each technology/protocol sits within it.
Wide Area Networking technologies and associated routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.
Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms, queue types and associated markings.
