Staff Accountant - Mexico PI

The Role and What You’ll Do:

Role is based out of Las Vegas. Performs finance and accounting functions through the duties and responsibilities below.

  • Administer weekly/monthly payment runs for domestic and foreign vendors for operating payments; preparing the payments in bank portal and assisting corporate treasury team with reviewing / releasing.
  • Partner with local service providers as needed to review and coordinate international statutory filings, including bridging statutory financial and tax books to U.S. GAAP.
  • Support tax team and local service providers to meet international regulatory and tax compliance needs, including VAT/GST and maintaining proper documentation for local country tax refunds/credits.
  • Develop a high level of expertise in the company’s accounting software, JD Edwards (JDE) and Hubble reporting software.
  • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, reserves, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency conversions as required to support the month end close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly accounting financial information.
  • Assist in annual budgeting process, as well as preparation of monthly fluctuation analysis between budgeted and actual results.
  • General understanding of foreign currencies and international taxes with the ability to become an expert in these areas with time and training.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation related to external audit requirements and interact with external auditors as required.
  • Working with UFC events team and the athletic commission, venue settlement, budgeting event costs and revenues, logistically ensuring all finance matters covered for events held in Mexico.
  • Seeks continual growth and expertise in the accounting and finance function and embrace cross-training opportunities provided within the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You Have These:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. CPA or international equivalent is preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in finance.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting practices and experience with accounting systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and periodic long days.
  • Ability to travel periodically for work.
  • High degree of proficiency with data entry functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and ability to learn other basic computer programs.
