The Role and What You’ll Do:

The Director, Operations at the UFC Performance Institute in Mexico City is part of a world-class interdisciplinary team of service providers with a proven track record of delivering world-leading support services to MMA and other professional athletes. The role will be integral in supporting the delivery of core services to UFC Academy athletes in Mexico and throughout Latin America, as well as wider business-related initiatives on a global scale. The UFC Performance Institute encourages innovative ways of thinking and challenges team members to be accountable for their professional standards of care while providing robust links to measurable performance outcomes in all that they do.

Aligned with the overall strategy of the UFC Performance Institute on a global scale, the Director, Operations will assume a leadership role to develop Mexico’s leading training institution in terms of performance, welfare, and research for MMA and combat sports. The role will assist the Senior Vice President of the UFC Performance Institute in managing all aspects of business operations for the UFCPI in Mexico City, whilst collaborating with UFCPI team members locally, most notably the Technical Director - MMA, to ensure the effective operation of the UFC Academy and MMA talent-development pathway.

  • Directly report to the SVP - UFC Performance Institute and assume leadership in coordinating the day-to-day operational and business activities of the UFC PI – Mexico City.

  • Cultivate positive relationships with key stake holders, including UFC athletes, coaches, gyms, contractors and external vendors.

  • Develop third-party vendor, consultant, and contractor relationships that are integral to the daily operational needs of the facility.

  • Direct operations staff and promote operational functions as the foundation upon which performance services can be optimized.

  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) that will govern the daily functions of the facility and staff, athletes, and visitors that utilize the UFCPI and its respective services.

  • Develop and implement support systems to aid in athlete and coach logistics moving in and out of the facility, including welfare and security for all.

  • Develop and maintain third-party consultant relationships and form strategic partnerships with industry leaders in business operations, strategy, and commercial enterprise.

  • Establish agreed-upon utilization targets and facilitate optimal utilization rates across all clienteles.

  • Work with the SVP - Performance Institute in managing the operational budgets for the UFCPI - Mexico and ensure effective and prudent management of operational and capital expenditure.

  • Direct facility management and coordinate on-going maintenance requirements for the upkeep and general standards expected for a UFC Performance Institute.

  • Manage the servicing and upkeep of critical performance equipment items, including routine maintenance and ‘health-checks’. This includes the management of equipment warranties and service agreements.

  • Perform on-going training with athletes, coaches, and UFCPI team members to ensure continued adherence to professional codes of conduct, COVID and/or other health & safety-related protocols, or any mandatory facility requirements.

  • Liaise with international colleagues to support the management and delivery of UFCPI global business initiatives.

  • Work with other UFC Performance Institute team members to deliver an interdisciplinary approach to performance development.

  • Perform any other tasks, projects, workflows, or responsibilities as directed that help establish a world-class performance facility.

  • This position has two direct reports (Athlete Services Coordinators) within the operations team.

You Have These:

  • Graduate degree in business administration, operations, sports management, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of high-level management experience in sports, events, or facility operations and/or administration.

  • Previous experience of leadership in an operational role in a high-paced environment.

  • Experience managing budgets and recording inventory is required.

  • Experience directing business operations and logistics required.

  • Experience managing a team of operations staff, including concierge, reception, or front-desk services, facilities, and maintenance personnel.

  • Experience providing operational support to interdisciplinary service providers.

  • Personal or professional experience in sport is preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish both verbally and in writing.

Travel: There are limited travel requirements with this role, except for one-off trips relating to UFCPI strategy and business development,
