Head of Health and Performance

The Head of Health and Performance is responsible for overseeing the health, wellness, and performance of our players. This position plays a critical role in coordinating, communicating, and developing strategies to optimize player performance, reduce the risk of injuries, and enhance overall team health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and managing the development of comprehensive health and performance programs, including injury prevention, injury management, nutrition, sleep, and recovery strategies.

  • Collaborate with the coaching staff, mind wellness, and other team personnel to design and manage individualized training and conditioning plans for players based on their unique needs, goals, and injury history.

  • Coordinate and oversee the team's sports medicine and athletic training services, including injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.

  • Oversee the tracking and analysis of player performance data, including physiological, biomechanical, and other relevant metrics, to inform decision-making and optimize player performance.

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in sports medicine, exercise science, nutrition, and other relevant fields, and integrate new research and best practices into the team's health and performance programs.

  • Oversee the team's strength and conditioning staff to design and implement strength and conditioning programs that are integrated with the team's overall health and performance strategies.

  • Work closely with team physicians and other medical professionals to manage and coordinate the team's medical services, including injury assessments, treatment plans, and rehabilitation protocols.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as sports medicine experts, nutritionists, and other relevant professionals, to enhance the team's health and performance programs.

  • Coordinate health assessments during player acquisition periods.

  • Manage and oversee the health and performance staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as sports medicine, exercise science, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working in sports medicine, athletic training, or a related field, with a focus on elite athletes.

  • Experience leading sports medicine groups in high performance environments.

  • Strong knowledge of sports medicine, exercise physiology, nutrition, and other relevant areas of health and performance.

  • Experience with professional sports leagues’ policies and protocols.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing health and performance programs for athletes, preferably in a team sport setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with players, coaching staff, medical professionals, and other team personnel.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret performance data and apply it to inform decision-making and optimize player performance.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead a team of health and performance staff.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
