As our Broadcast Director, you play a critical role focused on directing all Trail Blazers live television productions throughout the season both at home and on the road. We are seeking a strong innovator who can play a key role in helping develop an industry-leading, NextGen broadcast.

In addition to managing and coordinating all internal technical aspects of the Trail Blazers TV Broadcast and external technical requirements, the successful candidate will play a vital role in building a forward-thinking broadcast program. This includes collaborating with our distribution partners and the NBA to explore innovative approaches and technologies that enhance the viewer experience.

As the overseer of the Director/Tech Director responsible for the Trail Blazers Pre/Halftime/Postgame show, the Broadcast TV Director will drive creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement in these production segments.

Furthermore, this role will actively manage, coordinate, and nurture our Trail Blazers flagship radio partner relationship, as well as our Trail Blazer radio network across our market territory. By leveraging your expertise and forward-looking mindset, you will contribute to the growth and success of our radio broadcasting efforts.

DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Committed to developing a collaborative, innovative, diverse, and inclusive culture within the Broadcast division.

  • Serve as director of live television production.

  • Provide guidance and support to bring the Broadcast Producers vision to life within a live sports broadcast.

  • Lead and manage all Full-Time technical production staff/engineers, as well as game night technical production crew.

  • Oversee Trail Blazers Broadcast production facility operations.

  • Manage, schedule, and coordinate all technical production needs and crew to operate home and road broadcasts both independently and with outside broadcast crewing vendors.

  • Manage flagship radio partnership and entire affiliate network partnerships and relationships.

  • Manage all technical operations with TV/Streaming distribution partners.

  • Responsible for planning, managing, and implementing Broadcast (TV & Radio) budgeting process

  • Work collaboratively across all Trail Blazers & Rose Quarter departments including Corporate Partnership Division to drive towards revenue goals.

  • Coordinate TV mobile facilities and crew for all road games TV/Cable.

  • Are highly skilled in all aspects of the operations of live television production.

  • Have expert knowledge of broadcast production facilities including gear, equipment, and software programs.

  • Are highly skilled at problem-solving and quick on-demand decision-making.

  • Are a collaborative team player with the ability for independent thinking as well as thorough communication.

  • Have creative and engaging storytelling abilities.

  • Possess the ability to drive innovation.

  • Have knowledge of basic computing equipment and software typical in a modern office environment. Knowledge in practical application of Windows OS, MS Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.

  • Are skilled in developing, fostering, and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

  • Are able to maintain confidentiality, work with sensitive or proprietary information, and exercise discretion.

  • Have at least eight (8) years of leading production teams and directing live sports broadcasts.

  • High Basketball IQ preferred.

  • Must be able to travel to all away games with Basketball team.

  • Have the ability to work various nights, weekends, and holidays.
