
Ice Maintenance Technician, Sensplex Facilities
The overnight Sensplex Ice Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all ice rinks at the Bell or Richcraft Sensplex are maintained to the highest standard while complying with established safety policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ongoing
Flood and maintain ice for all 4 pads according to the daily schedule
Assist with keeping all areas of the facility neat and tidy as well as safe at all times
Janitorial duties in the dressing room
Ensure that all entrances are kept clear and safe of all debris and snow
Perform basic, general maintenance throughout the facility
Responsible for completing all log reports as required
Responsible for ice maintenance equipment and for performing minor repairs to the equipment
Respond to customers’ needs in a kind and courteous manner
Ensure proper building standards are maintained
Participate on committees to assist with event details and other special requirements
Ensure the Bell and Richcraft Sensplexes are in compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
Assist with annual maintenance projects
Periodic
Perform other duties as required from time to time at the request of the Operations Supervisor and Director of Operations
Health & Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act (“OHSA”) are adhered to by themselves and Staff specifically:
Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures as well as the staff they are supervising.
Using or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when required and ensure staff are.
Reporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team member to the Director of Operations
Reporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or Senators Sports & Entertainment policies and procedures to Director of Operations
Having good knowledge of the company’s emergency evacuation policies
Training
Responsible for completing on-line training modules including, but not limited to:
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability (AODA)
AODA, the Integrated Accessibility Standard
Ontario Worker Health & Safety Awareness
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
Violence and Harassment in the Workplace
May also be required to attend on-site training sessions as scheduled (eg. customer service).
Requirements
Minimum 2 years previous experience in recreation facility as a driver
Class “B” Refrigeration Operator Certificate preferred
Mechanical aptitude an asset
Certification in first aid, CPR, defibrillation
Must be able to lift heavy objects
Able to work independently
Ability to work in a safe manner
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadline
Excellent organization skills
Must possess effective oral and written communication skills
Must be able to work overnight, weekends and holidays
Knowledge of equipment repairs and usage
Team player
