The New York Yankees are seeking a bullpen catcher at the MLB level. The primary responsibilities include catching pitcher related throwing programs and mound sessions. The bullpen catcher will aid and assist the Major League coaching staff with daily tasks and advance scouting preparation. This position requires travel.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day to day pitcher related throwing programs and mound sessions. This includes pre-game, in-game, post-game and scheduled off days from the beginning of Major League Spring Training to the end of the Major League season.
- Support and assist in the daily advance process. Work directly with Major League Coaching Staff on any administrative tasks relating to advance preparation, video editing, data analysis and/or any research requests.
- Aid players and coaching staff with technology initiatives.
- Work in coordination with Pitching/Catching Department to help ensure that practice habits align with pitcher development plans.
- Communicate effectively with the Coaching Staff and players, to ensure that messaging to players is aligned with the visions, goals and strategies set by the organization.
- Maintains availability to Baseball Operations department in offseason for training sessions, development, and further education.
Required Qualifications:
- Professional or collegiate catching experience required. Physically able to catch multiple bullpens and long toss daily.
- Display strong level of communication skills and an open mind.
- Exhibit a positive mindset and commit to serving the needs of the team throughout the season.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Moderate level of technical proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office products. Coding skills in R or SQL a plus.
- Effectively communicate with non-English speaking staff and players. Bi-lingual preferred
