Summary:
The New York Mets Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for development and oversight of the mental health system and services supporting Mets baseball players and coaches.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and integrate mental health and performance psychology education and programs for Mets players and staff.
Collaborate with the EAPs to develop efficient and effective mental health services for Mets players and staff at all affiliate and complex locations.
Partner with Coaches and Performance Staff to enhance the response to mental health situations, ensuring players and staff have efficient access to the required resources.
Collaborate with the Mental Performance Coaches to enhance the identification of mental health needs across the organization.
Provide individual counseling services to Mets players and staff.
Develop educational workshops for specified teams and individual position groups.
Routine travel to Mets Affiliates and the Dominican Republic Academy to build relationships with players as staff and to increase the on the ground mental health support at Mets facilities.
Qualifications:
Master’s or Doctorate in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related degree with a concentration in Sport Psychology.
Currently licensed or able to be licensed to practice in New York and Florida.
3-5 years of full-time experience in a similar role working with elite athletes.
Demonstrated history of strong leadership and management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
A positive personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals.
Ability to speak Spanish.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Must be able to work unconventional hours.
