
Director, Private Events
The New York Mets are seeking a highly motivated Private Events Director with a history of scouting, selling, and contracting private events within a stadium. The Director, Private Events will be tasked with building and overseeing the private events team in generating new Business for non-game day private events as described below.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Vice President, Events to build out a high impact sales program to make Citi Field a premier event destination.
Create individual revenue goals for private event sales team quarterly and annually.
Assist with hiring and training of Account Executive, Mets Events.
Oversee Account Executive, Mets Events and ensure they are on track with hitting their sales goal.
Design, build and implement the highest value content and training for Private Event Sales Team
Develop scalable ways to introduce new content and update existing trainings.
Establish key performance indicators to track sales onboarding program efficacy; work with Director, Event Sales & Strategy and Senior Manager of Event Financial Operations, Mets Events to further develop and maintain important metrics, dashboards, and reporting to make recommendations on onboarding improvements.
Review leads from both closed won and closed lost opportunities to ensure best practices are used and implement training and enforcement to increase win rates
Leverage data and insights to identify key learning opportunities to close sales.
Instill motivating and encouraging ways that helps the sales team hit their individual goals.
Acquire new customers, selling medium to large-scale private non-game day events at Citi Field and our partnered venues.
Pitching Citi Field as a venue for new events- focusing on $100k+ Events
Focus on driving sales for non-game day events with a primary focus on corporate events, national business, and off-season events.
Assist in Planning and Executing Non-game Day Events from Start to Finish with a Focus on New Business (as needed).
Driving the full sales cycle including prospecting, closing, and relationship management.
Developing quotes and proposals for clients.
Researching organizations and individuals to identify new leads and potential new markets.
Building a lead database from various sources.
Researching the needs of other companies and decision-makers when it comes to booking events.
Contacting potential clients via email and phone to establish rapport and set-up in person meetings.
Consistently updating Sales Tools such as CRM, Triple Seat and Mets Events website
Managing internal relationships with employees at all levels.
Working in conjunction with Event Operations Team for event execution.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7-10 years selling private events, in hotels, convention centers, venues, or stadiums.
2-4 years managing a sales team.
Data and strategy driven.
Experience with planning and executing events from start to finish is a plus.
Ability to work with different types of learning and personalities.
Must understand challenges of sales cycle.
A proven track record in strong presentation skills and sales is required.
Strong track record of business-to-business sales at a corporate level is required.
Must be able to work events/promotions throughout the year as required.
Professional demeanor and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Must be team-oriented, out-going, extremely motivated and able to work independently.
Must possess a strong working knowledge of MS Office software, with an emphasis on Excel and
PowerPoint- knowledge of CRM and Triple Seat is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of the industry and current trends.
Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.

Salary Range:
$116,153.10 - $154,870.80
