Summary:

The New York Mets have an Associate Minor League Physical Therapist position in Port Saint Lucie, Florida for the 2024 season. This position will give a Physical Therapist the opportunity to gain experience in professional baseball while participating in a multi-disciplinary performance department. The Associate, Minor League Physical Therapist will assist the minor league Reconditioning Staff with daily responsibilities such as daily treatments, training room maintenance, rehab progressions, game coverage, and any other duties as assigned by MiLB Rehab and Reconditioning Coordinator.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of a reconditioning system that efficiently and effectively returns injured MLB 40-man roster players and MiLB players to competition in a high performing, resilient condition.

  • Collaboration with the MLB Reconditioning Staff to develop the rehabilitation methodology to be utilized across the organization.

  • Collaborate with Athletic Trainers, Physicians, Mental Performance Coaches, S&C Coaches, Sports Scientists, Dieticians, Front Office, and Player Development staff to optimize player care and injury prevention.

  • Develop position specific reconditioning drills ensuring appropriate exposure of volumes and intensities of baseball activities.

  • Participation in daily medical meetings, player rehab progressions and daily treatments, game coverage, as well as end of the day reporting.

  • Conduct frequent objective assessments and screening of healthy and injured players and utilize this information to inform player progressions and maintenance programs.

  • Administrative duties as assigned by the MiLB Rehab and Reconditioning Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Current PT Licensure and CPR/AED certification required

  • Successful completion of an Accredited DPT program - new graduates welcome to apply.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

  • Previous experience working in baseball (Collegiate, MiLB, MLB) and other team sports.

  • Good understanding of efficient movement mechanics (running, throwing, etc.) and strength and conditioning principles

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) & Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

  • Passion for baseball and desire to work in professional baseball following the associateship

  • Ability to play catch/throw with players as needed during their on-field rehab progressions

Position Details:

  • This position will be compensated on an hourly basis and is eligible for overtime

  • Expected start date of January 1, 2024 and will end November 30, 2024 (start date can be flexible)

  • No benefits are provided

  • The position is based out of Port St. Lucie, FL and travel is paid for by the Organization

Salary Range: $15-$16 an hour
