General Maintenance

Home to NASCAR’s Championship Weekend, Phoenix Raceway has been the premier motorsports venue in the Southwest since 1964 and hosts two NASCAR race weekends each year. In March, the Ruoff Mortgage 500 NASCAR Weekend kicks off the race season at Phoenix Raceway, featuring the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series. In November, champions will be crowned in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series West. Phoenix Raceway also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including corporate meetings and conferences, charity events, holiday events, sport and endurance competitions, driving schools and Segway tours.

Summary

This position performs a variety of duties necessary to maintain all aspects of the track facility and grounds on a year-round basis, with special emphasis on event preparation, track rentals and on-site activities. This position is responsible for the routine preventative maintenance, repairs and track services duties. Operating a variety of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform quality work with deadlines with or without direct supervision to internal and external customers

  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and vendors

  • · Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments

  • Must be able to work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations

  • Communicate, manage, and work directly with track vendors and contractors

  • Serve as liaison to office team for operational needs

  • Facilitate facility rental requirements and interface with clients

  • Operate equipment of all types as directed by Manager of Operations, and maintain equipment as necessary to meet goals and objectives of facility

  • Maintain lawn and landscaped areas as required to achieve desired results in overall appearance of facility

  • Clean grounds, including but not limited to, removal of trash and litter, year-round

  • Repair Tools, water lines, fences, gates, walls, walkways, buildings and perform necessary painting on required items

  • Hang and dismantle signage, banners, etc., as needed

  • Perform any necessary plumbing

  • Networking with other facilities staff to ensure consistency and accuracy for accomplishing respective tasks

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Hours will vary but will include all hours of operation, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to work events and to fulfill job responsibilities.

  • Willingness to receive feedback and accept direction in diverse circumstances - Must possess ability to adapt manual skill level to a variety of work areas and see a job through to completion in a satisfactory manner with minimal supervision.

  • Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer systems and programs, and cellular phone.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  • Frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

  • Occasionally required to sit; and taste or smell. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
