
Data Analytics Intern
Position:
The Data Analytics Intern is part of the Sporting Operations department for Minnesota United Football Club (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Job Description:
The Data Analytics Intern will be focused on gaining a hands-on experience in establishing reporting and analytics with the Sporting Department. This position is highly analytical and technology-based, but requires business development sense and an entrepreneurial spirit. This position will allow you to merge a passion for analytics and soccer, and promote your career growth in professional sports.
This is a paid, part-time, seasonal position based in Blaine, MN.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Gain experience working with diverse, large, and complex data sets to solve dynamic and challenging problems
Practice statistical analysis and predictive modeling
Learn how to develop impactful reports, presentations, and ongoing deliverables
Collaborate on new research opportunities across various functions
Help manage and input data for scouting department from leagues across the world
Compare trends between domestic leagues and leagues worldwide
Learn how to create and deliver analysis using provided tools and data sets
Develop an analytics focused passion project to collect, clean, analyze data and present findings
Requirements:
Pursuing a degree or recent graduate with a degree or diploma in mathematics, data science, computer science, statistics, economics or related field
Technological aptitude; the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and solve reporting problems
Some experience with technical tools for analysis preferred
Some experience with database systems and database visualization preferred
Proficiency using Microsoft Office
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
