Intern, Technology - Information Security

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems and networks to identify potential weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
• Participate in the monitoring and analysis of security events and alerts to detect and respond to potential security incidents.
• Support the implementation and management of security controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Assist in the review and analysis of security logs, reports, and data to identify potential security issues or trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security concerns and provide recommendations for improving the security posture of the organization.
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of security incidents, including conducting forensic analysis and documentation of findings.

Required Experience and Education:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of information security principles, concepts, and best practices.
• Familiarity with common security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusive detection systems, vulnerability scanners, etc.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• A basic understanding of PaaS and SaaS models.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 35 pounds as needed.

Time Commitment: March 2024 - December 2024 (Flexible).

Hours: 20 hours/week during the school year, 40 hours/week during the summer.

Pay Rate: $17/hour; Relocation/Housing assistance available up to $2,500.
