We have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machine Shop Machinist and Programmer to join our team in the Model Machine Shop. As a key member of the team, you will report to the shift leader and machine shop manager.
In this role, the CNC machinist/programmer will collaborate with our experienced CNC programmers and operators. Your primary responsibility will be to skilfully utilise Siemens NX CAM software to generate toolpaths for our 3 & 5 axis machines. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting our machining areas, contributing to the production of precision machined components. These components are essential for our 60% scale model car, aiding in wind tunnel testing. Furthermore, you will be involved in producing components for various other projects across the business.
About the Role:
Competent daily use of 3/5 Axis CNC Machines.
Advanced use of Siemens NX CAM software to create CNC code for 3 Axis and 5 Axis machining centres.
Focus on optimisation of existing CNC Programmes to drive machine tool efficiency.
Providing clear, effective communication across all key stakeholders and shifts.
Ensuring that appropriate process and procedures are adhered to throughout manufacture in order to maintain high quality.
Adaptable and proficient in meeting demanding timelines in a fast-paced environment
Required to have a mindset focused on continuous improvement and the ability to establish a positive reputation for both oneself and the department.
To be successful you will have:
You have completed a recognised apprenticeship and hold relevant qualifications.
You have proven experience in setting and operating CNC machines, with a strong skill set in CAD/CAM, emphasizing CNC code generation for 3 and 5 axis machining centres in a quality-focused, fast-paced environment.
You have experience with recognised CAM systems, and have ideally had previous exposure to Siemens NX CAD/CAM and Vericut, along with general IT competency.
You are familiar with quality systems, including ISO-9001.
You are an effective communicator and have the ability to maintain focus and objectivity under pressure.
You can demonstrate a process-oriented mindset with the capability to logically solve complex problems.
You are resilient and professional, with a commitment to continuous improvement and excellent attention to detail.
You are energetic with a strong work ethic and have a customer-focused approach.
You recognise that flexibility in working hours is required, as well as a can-do attitude, the ability to work in a team whilst under pressure and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
