
Operations Intern
Purpose of the Role:
An exciting opportunity for a 1-year intern within McLaren Racing Formula One team. The role will be based with Operations with the focus being Continuous Improvement. Reporting to the Reliability & Continuous Improvement Lead, you will develop and maintain operational procedures and methods using digital tools within Mclaren Racing.
Working collaboratively between all areas of McLaren Racing Operations, you will support with analysing and evolving operational continuous improvement; creating, developing and implementing operational improvement projects as directed.
Contribute to, lead, and deliver complete improvement projects at our manufacturing sites and to rectify risk, reliability, and performance hurdles.
Consistently assessing and reporting on time, cost, and future continuous improvement projects.
Develop new methods and practices to improve operational efficiency, process flow and control within MTC and into trackside.
Principal Accountabilities:
Co-ordinate, facilitate and deliver improvement projects within the F1 Operations function.
Deliver consistent results to ensure efficiency and consistency across departments.
Support reducing time taken for all operational tasks, minimising risk through consistent process and efficiency gains.
Support operational fault resolution, assessment, and actioning.
Evaluate ideal efficiency goals and deliver methods of meeting these, to reduce risk, increase throughput and promote consistency, cost saving and overall operational reliability.
Build relationships across all teams and areas of influence.
Establish a methodology for highlighting risk factors ahead of them happening.
Simulation of potential operational failures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Currently studying towards a Masters or bachelor’s degree in an engineering or computer science discipline, ideally returning to University after the internship to complete your studies.
Some experience of working within a motorsport or team environment.
Practical mindset with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Able to develop, participate and thrived in a team-orientated environment.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Understanding of SQL and creating data visualisations also beneficial.
