The Purpose:

The Group Risk & Compliance Lead will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Club’s risk management and compliance activities together with execution of the Sarbanes Oxley (“SOx”) accounting controls framework and internal audit programme.

The Role:

  • Responsible for implementing current risk management strategy across the Club, developing existing processes and systems.
  • Continue to improve the Club’s regulatory risk management framework, setting risk appetite with the Risk Committee and senior management.
  • To provide oversight and guidance to business units regarding risk identification & mitigation.
  • Responsibility for reporting departmental risks to the Risk Committee and advising on activities to mitigate those risks.
  • Coordinating execution of the Club’s SOx compliance process, including where appropriate, management of external specialists and helping to improve the Club’s internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Improve the efficiency of the SOx, Internal Audit and compliance programme without impacting the quality, independence and credibility of the services provided.
  • Responsible for the management of Business Continuity for the Club including Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management planning support for relevant functions including the planning of testing.
  • Compliance – ensure the Group has effective systems, procedures and controls for compliance and each department operates processes to comply with internal and external policies / regulations.
  • Define and implement a proportionate compliance monitoring plan and ensure that findings are reported to Board, Risk and Audit Committees effectively.


The Person:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA) with an assurance background.
  • Must have an interest in risk and controls.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards.
  • Experience of SOx frameworks and Internal Audit functions is preferable.
  • Possess strong reporting/writing skills, including the preparation of Board level papers.
  • Possess strong IT skills, specifically in Excel.
  • Knowledge of IT systems implementation and control would be advantageous
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with confidence to approach people at all levels of seniority both internally and externally.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate proactiveness and have strong planning & organisation skills.
  • Exhibit pride in performance and ability to deliver to high standards in the provision of service to the Club’s external and internal stakeholders.
