Manager, Emerging Ventures
As a member of the Emerging Ventures team, you will assist in creating strategic partnerships, enabling new capabilities, and building value to grow the MLS fanbase, deliver new revenue streams and improve the quality of play on the field.
In this role you will work as a member of the Emerging Ventures team on a range of projects including managing day to day relationships with MLS’ sports data partners, supporting operations of the MLS Innovation Lab and working to analyze new business opportunities.
You will work closely with cross functional areas such as media, technology, finance, legal, marketing, sponsorship, youth development and competition to explore, debate and discuss new ideas and concepts. Your entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and thought leadership will enable MLS to ideate, validate, and bring new concepts to life.
Operate at high volume in support of the Ventures business to analyze, structure, and explain new business opportunities including Excel and PowerPoint work.
Support MLS innovation activities to grow the fanbase, create new revenue and improve the quality of play on the field.
Manage relationships with existing MLS sports data partners.
Execute the annual MLS Innovation Lab program.
Work closely with the Ventures team to evaluate and refine new business opportunities.
Assist in managing portfolio of existing partnerships to help support partners growth and integration into MLS operations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus
5+ years of experience in a relevant role, such as management consulting, investment banking, private equity or venture capital
A willingness to roll up your sleeves and help as needed to advance the team’s work.
Ability to quickly synthesis complicated information into well-structured written communication.
Excellent Excel modeling, PowerPoint creation, storytelling, and presentation skills.
Ability to solve problems with limited information and amid changing circumstances.
High-level dedication to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.
Possess effective decision-making skills with a solutions focused mentality.
Starting Base Salary $75,000 - $85,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
