Position Summary:

At a pivotal time in the WNBA's history, the WNBA is looking for a Growth Strategy Lead to work closely with senior management to implement the growth strategy for the league and develop goals and KPIs in line with the overall league priorities of revenue growth and demand creation.

This position acts as the liaison and resource for all groups that partner with the WNBA product including Marketing, TMBO, Digital/Social, Global Partnerships, Public Relations, Strategy, Finance, and Social Responsibility.

The Growth Strategy Lead will serve in a crucial role as part of an agile team within the NBA organization, working diligently and flexibly to drive the success of one of the nation's top professional sports leagues.

Major Responsibility:

  • Direct the long-term strategic planning process for growth initiatives and revenue generation across the league including: Serving as voice of the business in working with cross-functional teams to direct the league's media rights and distribution strategy, broadcast production strategy and media partnerships

  • Working closely with WNBA Digital Products to develop revenue generation strategy from data and consumer insights

  • Overseeing the league's merchandising strategy

  • Liaising with Team Presidents as point person in the areas of media, events, and direct to consumer strategy

  • Developing presentation materials that include qualitative and quantitative analysis around bringing the overarching strategic plan to life

  • Drive data analysis and assessment of new revenue streams

  • Provide strategic leadership for WNBA events including WNBA Draft, WNBA All-Star, and WNBA Finals with a focus on transforming the business unit from a cost center to a revenue generator

  • Act as the primary point of contact of the host teams, advocating for their needs and helping to navigate the NBA organization

  • Develop new and innovative ideas that build on the WNBA brand experience and provide opportunities for partner engagement

  • Provide direct supervision to Events Lead (Manager), Growth and Innovation (Director), Growth and Innovation Analyst (Associate Manager), partnering with CGO to identify talent needs within new and growing team

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience

  • Strong Media Strategy background

  • Advanced project management capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and foster key business relationships

  • Excellent time management, verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and demanding environment


  • Bachelor's Degree Required, business focus preferred MBA Preferred

Salary Range:

  • $170,000 to $210,000 per year
