We have an amazing opportunity to join our Academy and First Team on a cross-functional role as Assistant Chef. This role will report directly to the Head of Operations, assisting the Academy and First Team Chef’s at the Academy Training Ground and First Team Training Ground facilities. The successful candidate will assist the chef in the preparation, presentation and serving of high-quality food which meets the requirements of the management and coaching team to maximise nutritional intake of players.

This is a part-time role working 25 hours per week on a rota basis over a 7-day period with complete flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.

Due to the nature of this role travel to and from two different sites will be required therefore a full UK driving license is required.

You will:

  • Assist in producing menus.

  • Preparing and cooking food to the highest possible standard in line with the agreed club recipes, giving the required amounts of nutritional value to all meals.

  • Assist the chef with ordering of stock, keeping levels to a minimum and minimizing wastage, taking stock rotation into consideration.

  • Receive delivery of goods into the building and store correctly, adhering to required documentation relating to HACCP.

  • Maintain the appearance, cleanliness and hygiene standards of the kitchen, dining room area, utensils, and equipment, actively being involved in the cleaning process.

  • Ensure the effective performance of the team through communication, management, development, and role modelling professional behaviours and standards.

  • Ensure that you are following the correct procedures regarding HACCP, Hygiene & Health and Safety Regulations, keeping all documents up to date and logged, with no exceptions.

  • Deputising the chef role in their absence.

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • GCSE’s or equivalent in English and Maths

  • 7100 Professional Cookery level 2 or equivalent as a minimum

  • Basic Hygiene qualification as a minimum

  • Demonstratable experience of assisting or operating a large-scale, high-quality food operation

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong organisation skills

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace

  • Knowledge of nutrition and the ability to select, prepare and cook nutritionally balanced meals

  • Experience of using HACCP

  • Previous use of cleaning schedules

  • Proven ability to maximise customer experience

  • Demonstrate pride in your work and deliver high standards at all times

  • Reliable and punctual with good timekeeping skills

  • Enthusiastic

  • Trustworthy with excellent levels of confidentiality and discretion

  • Willing to learn and continuously develop

  • Self-motivated

  • Assertive, calm with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Flexible to meet the requirements of the management and coaching staff and work unsociable hours

  • Ability to travel to and from different sites [Hold a UK Driving Licence]
