Position Overview:

The Front-End Developer is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the primary websites for the Washington Wizards, ensuring that projects are delivered within scope and maintained at the highest level. This role will be an individual contributor within the Wizards Digital team, developing compelling user interfaces using a WordPress based CMS platform, plus 3rd party tools or embeds.   • Lead the development in building fully functional websites and digital products, based on business requirements and design specs.

  • Collaborate internally to build and maintain web and mobile applications in support of team news, partnerships, analytics, ticket sales, marketing initiatives, etc.

  • Gather business requirements and design technical solutions to meet those needs.

  • Set coding standards and deliver the strategic technical solutions, in close collaboration with NBA development teams.

  • Help set coding standards and help drive the strategic technical direction of our development efforts.

  • Develop system test criteria and participate in systems testing.

  • Maintain ongoing SEO strategy, evaluation, analysis and recommendation for Wizards sites.

  • Consistently evaluate site performance to identify areas or improvement and opportunities to integrate new technology.

  • Closely follow trends and developments in technology and integrate them into our environment and practices.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 3+ years of experience building highly available / scalable websites in an enterprise environment.

  • Front-End Champion.

  • Deep understanding and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, API’s, and ReactJS Frameworks

  • Strong knowledge of web server technologies (i.e. Apache) and Server-Side Rendering (SSI) technologies such as NextJS.

  • Preferred experience with UI design and APIs on top of application databases.

  • Experience with GitHub workflows.

  • Self-motivator with ability to balance multiple projects at once in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
