In this role you are accountable for the Washington Spirits’ content strategy & execution along with the creative vision for the team. You are a seasoned creative director with a background in organizations that push the boundaries of storytelling. You have substantial experience making creative assets that make people feel something and encourage them to do something. You are an innovator, you are uber curious, you have ideas always popping into your head and have a track record of bringing those ideas to reality. You also have experience getting into the details of content calendarization, the “why” behind what you’re making, and you have a POV on how it should deliver in the market. You have a point of view around your creative and demand the best. You have experience managing teams of creative people and want to build a diverse, positive team of creators. Your team consists of graphic designers, video managers, editors, content archivists, & more.

You’ll be doing work that runs the gamut of creative, from driving storytelling about our players & their stories, helping us continue to build our brand doing awareness related work and will also lean in on all of our creative needs as it relates to driving our business.

Who You Do It With

You report directly to the Head of Brand Marketing and your direct peers are our leaders in the social, email, web, field & player marketing spaces. You work very closely with our Comms, Ticketing, Partnerships, Merch & Player Care teams. You are also in lock step with our GM/President of Sporting Operations along with our Head Coach ensuring that visions are aligned. You work directly with our players ensuring that they are perceived in the best light—you care about their brands & their future. You lead a team of 6+ Full time staff with additional freelancers & multiple agencies.

Key Skills Needed

  • Proven ability to deliver fresh new ideas

  • Thorough understanding of internet marketing, brand building, storytelling, content creation, & design

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skill

  • Strong organizational skills with superior attention to detail

  • Passion for sports & experience within the sports industry

  • Ability to implement content calendars & deliver on-time

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

  • Excellent ability to prioritize, organize & multi-task

  • Can push self- & others in an ambiguous environment

  • Models’ positive energy & handles stress well

Job Requirements

  • At least 7 years of similar experience

  • Experience being a collaborator within a team environment

  • Must be fully vaccinated against Covid 19

  • Available to work nights, weekends & holidays as needed based on sporting calendar

  • This role is located in our Falls Church office, we have a Hybrid schedule with Mondays & Friday’s being remote Equal Opportunity Statement
