The role of VP, Corporate Partnerships is to empower and lead the team responsible for strategically generating and growing annual revenue by building and maintaining exceptional business relationships with current and prospect partnerships across Canada. The successful candidate will have proven abilities as an engaging and motivating leader and colleague, with highly effective communication skills and a track record of achieving targets while balancing the people needs of the Club.
Role Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer to set and implement annual team goals, strategies, milestones, and timelines for reaching department revenue goals
Oversee the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Corporate Partnership team to manage relationships and renewals of current and prospect corporate partners
Establish strong working relationships with local business communities as well as regional and national companies to understand individual marketing and business goals and initiatives
Establish and oversee staff performance and development, assign goals, key performance indicators and conduct annual performance reviews
Provide direction, coaching and mentoring to enhance performance and development of staff
Effectively collaborate with other necessary departments to achieve goals
Review and update processes and procedures in order to facilitate more efficient partner accounts, proposal development, stewardship, and reporting compliance
Strong financial acumen with experience managing team budgets and sales reporting
Collaborate with external consultants, vendors and suppliers as required
Create, review, and update budgets tracking profit and loss to reach financial revenue goals
Attend home games and other special events to source and establish business relationships with new prospects
Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including Stadium, League, and agencies
Connect with clients and host partnership members on match days in hospitality spaces and to conduct walk through of club spaces
Qualifications/Experience:
In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the ideal candidate will require a broad base of account management with degrees of demonstrated experience as follows:
Minimum 8 years of Sales and partnership management experience, leading a results-oriented team of Sales and Service employees
Post-secondary experience with Marketing, Business, or related disciplines
The ability to build and maintain strong corporate relationships in order to consistently maximize growth, meet/exceed targets, and service partnerships at an exceptional level
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including public speaking to small and large groups at all levels of an organization
Strong understanding of industry trends to enable the effective position of partnership opportunities
Proven ability to engage with a range of internal and external partners to achieve objectives
Ability to assess opportunities and risks to make sound decisions
Experience with a CRM platform
Experience within the Canadian sporting industry is an asset
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
