Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Director, Finance supports various operating departments at Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE) from a financial perspective. This position also provides leadership to members of the Finance Team. This role will focus on:
Preparing lender compliance packages for assigned CSE entities
Managing preparation of budgets and forecasts for assigned CSE entities and departments
Providing ongoing financial support to assigned CSE entities
Overseeing preparation of required head-office reporting, acting as liaison with head office on key matters
Assisting with corporate tax returns and tax working papers for assigned CSE entities
Supervising and reviewing the completion of monthly reconciliations and financial statements, including reporting to business units in accordance with month end deadlines
Managing the year end audit, including the review of all year-end audit working papers and acting as liaison with external audit team
Preparing year-end financial statements and year-end financial statement packages, including various League reporting requirements
Providing treasury management and periodic cash flow analysis
Providing any required research and analysis into accounting issues
Reviewing Finance policies, procedures, and internal controls, and updating as necessary
Developing plans for and overseeing the adoption of new finance and accounting systems and special projects
Managing department goal setting and strategy to align with overall organizational objectives, communicating progress to the department and monitor results
Reviewing sponsorship, suite, and other premium agreements, and working with these departments to assist with their reporting needs
Working closely with food and beverage, arena, and retail operations teams, providing ad-hoc financial review and analysis as needed
Overseeing capital plans and budgets for the organization
Leading, coaching, mentoring, training, and recruiting Finance Department staff
Assisting Vice President, Finance with special projects as needed

YOU MUST HAVE:
Professional accounting designation: CPA
Minimum 8 years’ finance experience in a management capacity
Proven experience supervising, leading and motivating finance and accounting staff
Experience with complex budgets and forecasting
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize ideas and issues, and succinctly present to Senior Leadership
Superior attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate with multiple teams to achieve reporting objectives
Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues
Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize
