The Canucks for Kids Fund (CFKF) is dedicated to assisting charities that support children's health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia.

The Accountant for the Canucks for Kids Fund is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the charity’s accounting transactions and records, and also ensures the day-to-day accounting and finance related functions are compliant with CRA and GPEB regulations. This role will also support all our fundraising programs and events, with both administrative duties and management of key projects.

A typical day includes:

  • Generating monthly financial statements and summarizing current financial results

  • Overseeing full accounting cycle and month-end process

  • Recording transactions and maintaining the general ledger, including account reconciliations

  • Monitoring the annual budget against actual results and adjust forecasts accordingly

  • Assisting the Executive Director with annual financial forecasting for program funding and granting

  • Advising and implementing internal controls and process improvements

  • Preparing charity’s tax receipts and ensuring issuance is compliant with CRA Charitable policies

  • Ensuring compliance with CRA policies by staying up to date on new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions

  • Preparing all required government submissions, including T3010 Charity Info Return, GST and PST

  • Ensuring compliance with BC Gaming Commission licensing requirements, reporting deadlines, and fund disbursements

  • Providing support in day-to-day coordination and administration of the 50/50 program operations

  • Administering the 50/50 email and voicemail accounts, including ongoing correspondence with current and prospective volunteers, guest inquiries, raffle operations, etc.

  • Assisting with post raffle operations and reporting, including following up with winning ticket holders and preparing paperwork for finance team to disperse funds to the winner

  • Managing online raffle operations for Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Warriors home and away games

  • Managing all CFKF event auctions, including solicitation and planning of 250+ prizes annually, managing website, working with auction volunteers, and overseeing event day set up and display of auctions

  • Working assigned game/event nights to supervise raffle operations and support CFKF events as needed

  • At least 4 years of general accounting experience, preferably in the charitable sector

  • Knowledge of current relevant legislation related to charities and not for profits

  • Ability to work in a team and also with minimal supervision

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, strong attention to detail

  • A creative and dynamic personality with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional customer service skills

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and D365 Business Central

  • Eligibility for BC Gaming Worker Registration
