Department Overview

The Sport Development Associate is based at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters in Chicago, IL and will support the following areas: Referee Operations and Development. The core function of the position is to facilitate the day-to-day duties of the programs, provide operational support to the State Referee Committees (SRCs) across the country, support the referee registration process, provide customer service through Salesforce and other platforms used across the departments. This opportunity is aimed at applicants that are college graduates seeking professional careers in sports and specifically soccer.

Primary Duties

  • Point of contact for Sport Development programs, participants, and members

  • Management of U.S. Soccer help desk and user support

  • Administrative oversight and quality assurance within U.S. Soccer’s Learning Management System

  • Work collaboratively to execute the day-to-day operations

  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with all members, State Referee Committees, referees and other affiliated members

  • Project and event management for Sport Development programs

  • Support the course creation and content editing processes

  • Data entry, clean up and analysis

  • Historical record upkeep and maintenance

  • Processing Certificate of Insurance requests

  • Assist with other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the sport and the overall soccer landscape in the U.S.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Customer service focus to solve complex and urgent situations

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize workflow

  • Proficient with online platforms and technology programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Keynote, etc.)

  • Experience in developing/supporting technology platforms or database management is a plus

  • Able and willing to travel up to 15% of the time

  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus, but not required

  • Current college student or recent graduate
