Main goal: The Videoconferencing Manager will have to think, build, run, maintain and evolve the videoconferencing service offered at UEFA (from pre-production right through to post-production).

Key responsibilities:

  • Assessing the current videoconferencing capabilities on the UEFA campus and presenting a multi-year plan for making the service more efficient and ensuring that it responds perfectly to UEFA's needs;

  • Managing the delivery of a number of essential services supporting a wide array of in-studio, on-campus, hybrid, and remote video productions;

  • Participating in the management of specialised AV equipment, its supporting systems and associated technologies, which involves helping to evaluate the equipment and making purchasing recommendations; coordinating preventive and routine maintenance; performing emergency troubleshooting and repairs, especially during live events; and maintaining inventory control;

  • Acting primarily as Event Technical Director, as well as supporting and occasionally filling other operator roles (e.g. camera operator, video switcher, live stream and/or broadcast operator, lighting operator, audio, conferencing operator, etc.) as needed;

  • Facilitating pre-production needs, which involves ascertaining internal project needs; determining, identifying and scheduling internal and external staffing resources; collaborating on the design of signal-flow diagrams, venue furniture and equipment layouts, runs-of-show and cue sheets; determining and scheduling equipment load-in and load-out;

  • Managing, assisting with or carrying out the set-up and integration of equipment and services, including video cameras; production systems used for switching, distribution, recording, streaming, etc.; videoconferencing systems; intercom systems for FOH, event, production, and other crews; lighting and audio equipment;

  • Managing all aspects of capturing, recording and transmitting UEFA's videoconference productions, video and images and facilitating post-production in line with industry-standard best practices using professional production software such as Adobe Premiere; this includes editing, mixing, and mastering; exporting and outputting video; encoding, formatting, uploading and distributing files as requested;

  • Obtaining project approval and funding, including identifying stakeholders, working with the project team, conducting pilots and recommending go/no-go decisions;

  • Liaising with vendors, developing strategies, workflows and rate cards for UEFA's internal projects, identifying competitive pricing for products and services and closing projects for billing;

  • Identifying performance issues, interpreting trends (e.g. tracing network traffic), and identifying and implementing opportunities to improve system and application performance (e.g. automating manual system tasks);

  • Updating and writing documentation, including project plans, operational procedures, troubleshooting tips and diagrams such as technical topologies;

  • Working on complex specialised projects and performing videoconferencing, taking a similar managing role during UEFA events, including being responsible for producing remote multi-camera programmes, supervising field crews and managing technical aspects and the overall production approach, including all collateral; This role will therefore require travel, as well as a flexible shift pattern owing to the variable schedule of video production and equipment use.

Experience required:

  • At least 5 years' experience in video production, studio operations, event operations or a videoconferencing centre

  • Experience in an AV, broadcast or ICT environment

  • Experience managing highly demanding projects, including budgeting, staffing and maintaining relationships with business stakeholders

Education:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent in a media-related field is desirable. A master's degree would be an asset.

Languages:

  • English / Proficient

  • Any other languag is an asset
