OVERVIEW:

As a role model and MVP of the Facility Services team, you will work to integrate best practices for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of the stadium during events. This involves all aspects of event cleaning, sanitizing, waste management, and inspections.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Efficiently perform cleaning and sanitization safely by using disinfectant on high touch surfaces for all interior and exterior areas of the building in accordance to our property boundary guidelines
  • Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, removal of garbage, compost and recycling, and washroom inspections during events
  • Separately dispose of all recycling material (cardboard, paper, glass bottles)
  • Assist in the clean-up of any water related floods
  • Respond to radio calls with proper etiquette and attend to inquiries with a sense of urgency while keeping fan safety in mind
  • Do not share equipment and make sure that they are frequently cleaned, disinfected and in good working condition
  • Wear all required PPE where indicated and follow safe work instructions.
  • Provide additional help to supporting staff on proper disinfection practices
  • Monitor stock levels of equipment and supplies
  • Provide a friendly and informed response to any reasonable complaint or request with professionalism and patience
  • Be alert for the safety of all fans by maintaining a safe environment
  • Report any concerns related to unacceptable behaviours
  • Be an active promoter of our We Care values
  • Follow Rogers Centre Health and Safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position: may require frequent walking for periods of at least 5 hours per shift
  • Must be comfortable reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending and moving with standard janitorial equipment for periods of at least 5 hours per shift
  • May require the ability to lift, push/pull loads of 14 kg (30 lbs).
  • Prepared to use all janitorial related equipment such as pushing carts, brooms, buckets and mops in a fast paced, loud and sometimes congested environment
  • Demonstrate a consistent well-groomed and hygienic appearance
  • Ability and willingness in certain conditions to wear an earpiece while responding to calls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be prepared and able to use all personal protective equipment including a face covering and disposable gloves for periods of at least 5 hours per shift
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning and disinfection safety practices
  • Working knowledge of employee responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Awareness and understanding of infection control practices, workplace hazardous materials and chemicals (WHMIS)
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English fluency
  • Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills and able to exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate a record of good performance and strong attendance
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and respond to inquiries promptly
  • Ability and willingness to work all home games and Rogers Centre events, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as requireD

Safety procedures will in place to avoid cross-contamination measures between employees, clients, fans and players.

  • Entrance Health Screening available before entry
  • Personal Protective Equipment (face covering / hand gloves) available
  • Social distancing guidelines in place
  • 24hr cleaning and disinfection to common areas in place
  • Medical personnel on-site

As a condition of hire, all new employees will be required to provide proof of vaccinations against COVID 19 or undergo regular testing. Any request for an exception under Human Rights legislation must be supported by evidence to be considered by Toronto Blue Jays on a case by case basis.
